Disney Parks & Resorts Digital is responsible for creating digital experiences for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts destinations worldwide. As the physical and digital worlds continue to converge, our team has taken responsibility for the end-to-end (digital-plus-physical) Guest experience for digital-led initiatives. These initiatives are those where the digital capability, whether powered through PC, tablet, mobile, wearables, MagicBand or even a Guest’s personal technology, are the key driver of an end-to-end digital-plus-physical user experience.
This presentation will follow along with our Guests as they plan and visit Walt Disney World in Florida for a family vacation through the lens of the Disney Parks & Resorts Digital team. Along the way we will illustrate how a company-wide commitment to our Guest experience, aided by the ubiquity of digital technology in our everyday lives and within our theme parks, has enabled us to deliver user experiences that anticipate our Guests’ needs and help them maximize their vacation experience. These experiences may begin in one place and end in another, and they may reside in both the digital and physical domains, so an integrated approach to user experience is key to the magic of a Disney vacation.
As product management director at Disney Parks & Resorts Digital, Dan Hamer-Hodges leads strategy for digital products used by Disney guests to plan and enjoy their vacations with the world’s leader in shared travel and leisure experiences. In addition to Disney, Dan has experience designing digital products for large organizations like Sony, British Telecom, Unilever and Citrix as well as the governments of both the UK and Australia. Dan holds a master’s degree in human-computer interaction and has published research on auditory user interface design. He began his career in documentary filmmaking working for an Emmy-award winning team, and is currently based in Celebration, Fla.
