Key Learnings

  • The digital factory is the logical prosecution of the virtual Engineering
  • We are able to shorten ramp up times und secure safer product launches
  • It is still a long way towards “plug and manufacture”

Details

In times of volatile markets and fast changing circumstances, the ability for fast modifications of your production environment is one of the keys to success.  We at Magna Steyr started years ago thinking about bringing the complete production process to the virtual world in our computers. Together with partners like AutoDesk and Siemens we are now able to simulate our factory and the processes inside. Due to that fact, we install equipment faster, launch new products in a more safe way than in the past and find very easily the optimal point of operations.

Our vision is the existence of two parallel worlds: The real world and the mirrored real world in our digital factory – real time! To realize this vision, a lot of things have to be done – we go for it!
