James Powderly is an award-winning designer and engineer with a 15 year career creating empowering tools and experiences on two planets and across an improbable set of domains, including: space robots, graffiti, higher education, medical equipment, architecture, Do-it-Yourself, viral media and wearable computing.
His work has been featured on Mars, at the Sundance film festival, on the front page of YouTube, and in the permanent collection of the MoMA in NYC. James has won awards like Ars Electronica’s Golden Nica, and the Interactive Design of the Year from Design Museum, London. His work was featured in the Golden Lion-winning Korean Pavilion at the 2014 Venice Architecture Biennale.
James worked at Samsung Electronics in Seoul making fashion tech and AR devices and he is currently the Director of User Interaction & Experience at Magic Leap.
