Joseph Thoreson

Joseph Thoreson is a Senior User Experience Technologist and Team Lead of the User Interface Design team responsible for on-board information system interfaces at Caterpillar Inc. In his role he serves as lead user interface designer for many machine programs as well as coordinating development across all machines to drive consistent user interfaces throughout the product lines. Joseph is also the lead for UI/UX on the remote operator station within Caterpillar’s remote control and autonomy programs. He received his master’s degree in Cognitive Science from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Prior to joining Caterpillar, Joseph worked as a contractor for the United States Department of Defense and NASA within various human performance programs. This work focused mainly on evaluation of training effectiveness as well as developing multimodal measures of human performance.
