Web accessibility is a part of promoting equal opportunities and a more independent life for the elderly, people with special needs and others. Despite the laws and standards, the level of accessibility is not as high as it should be. To streamline accessible solutions, design and development projects should be based on frameworks and kits that already cover a basic level of accessibility. However, those are not easy to find. Furthermore, the knowledge about accessibility is often not great and teams lack experience and know-how to prevent and fix accessibility issues.
This talk will emphasize the importance of accessibility both for the users and for the business, give an overview of the European regulations, list 10 accessibility rules that fix 80% of the issues, showcase some good and bad examples and explain how to create an accessibility statement.
