Content
Behavioural nudges have become a staple in digital product design, helping guide user actions subtly and effectively. However, the line between ethical nudging and manipulation is often blurred. This session will challenge designers to rethink their approach to behavioural design, focusing on creating experiences that empower users rather than exploit them.
The structure:
1. The psychology of nudging and its ethical boundaries
2. Identifying and eliminating manipulative design tactics
3. Examples of responsible nudges in key domains
4. Practical design tips for responsible nudging
During the talk, attendees will be invited to participate in a live activity to spot ethical versus manipulative nudges in sample designs. This exercise will reinforce the learning by showing how subtle tweaks can make a big ethical difference.
